Dataset overview Note:
1) The number of live births by occupation of father takes born in wedlock children as objects.
2) Total and non-employed of live births by mother's occupation include 14 live births that mother's age is under 15 years old in FY 1970.
3) There are occupations that can not be calculated by major groups,because figures are calculated by 4 occupational classes in FY 1975.
Managers, Specialist and technical workers, Clerical workers are included in clerical related workers.
Sales workers, Service workers and Security workers are included in service related workers.
Among them, Clerical workers and Sales workers are indicated again as regrouped in the parenthesis.
4) The figures for FY2005, FY2010 and FY2015 in this table are after recalculation, including those that were not reported by the prefectures (announced on March 29, 2019).
5) The population used as denominator is Japanese population ("Non-employed" = "Unemployed" + "Population not in labour force").

Survey outline The Vital Statistics Survey takes into account all births, deaths, marriages, divorces and foetal deaths. However, this statistics table provides a total of all events that occurred in Japan concerning persons of Japanese nationality. Statistics of events concerning Japanese nationals abroad and foreign nationals in Japan are respectively available as Other on this page.
